How to avoid a burnout

“Work hard”

“Push yourself to the limits.”

“Hustle to the maximum to achieve results”

These statements and many others of a similar nature can be found everywhere in the personal development niche. While these words mean well and for the most part are true, they may drive people to a wrong path. Self improvement gurus mean well, but they can drive their followers to go to extreme and even all the way to burnout…that is of course if they are not taken to a depressive state.

The constant reminder that one could be doing better does not work for everyone. Some people just need to be reminded that you can do all you do but ultimately you will be dealt certain cards by life and you will have to accept reality.

Yes, you must do your best in life to put yourself in the best position to achieve your goals, but never let it be to a point where it affects you negatively. Do not take yourself to a point of burnout. One good way to avoid burnout is surrounding yourself with people who can help you get closer to your own goals -of course they have to be mutually beneficial relationships so understand how you provide value.

Burnout is usually caused by a person doing too much alone. By working in teams, you get to be able to do more by creating a system that works for you and your team. By surrounding yourself with competent people, you also don’t have to micromanage every part of your hustle. Also, by building a team, naturally you keep each other in check. When one begins to overwork themselves, they will be warned and at least get an opportunity to realize their situation before it breaks.

Another important thing to remember is that you can take a moment to breath sometimes. That moment in perspective could be a day or two or even a week depending on your exhaustion levels. You are not a machine, allow yourself to relax. You always come back stronger if you take an opportunity to take a breather to allow yourself to rest. Hustle hard, but don’t forget to recharge sometimes.
