Build better relationships

Whether we are talking friends and family or perhaps romantic partners, it is very important to keep the relationships in our  lives healthy. Love and the sense of belong are one of the most basic needs on the hierarchy of human needs. This is because truly speaking, no man is an island.

We are social creatures. The reason civilization exists in the first place is because of humans ability to mobilize a large group of people to work towards a common goal. Think of today’s skyscrapers. Or better yet, lets go back in time and consider the Great Pyramids of Giza. These superstructures have only existed due to extreme cooperation between many people.

Which takes us back to the people you love and why it is important to keep those relationships healthy. Firstly, everyone has their own problems on a day to day basis, including YOU. And one amazing way to deal with them is to talk about them with your tribe.

By tribe I mean the close people in your life who want what’s best for you the same way you want what is best for them. Your tribe is important because they help you deal with your problems, identify danger on your blindspots or even simply just being able to unwind and talk about sports.

Life is too unpredictable for one not to step back and watch everything from a bird’s eye view. Unless you are a Buddhist monk or someone who has reached a certain level of spiritual enlightenment that’s hard for the rest of us to attain, then it is absolutely necessary that you maintain healthy relationships with people as you cannot survive alone.

Do be careful that the people you keep around are the  type to care and give back  to you as well. You don’t want narcissistic people in your life because they will take and take until you are empty emotionally.

Give to those who reciprocate and you will live a very harmonious life. It is in your control who you choose to be in your life, make sure it’s the right people for you.
